Welcome
I am Jon Steel a professional independent Chartered Building Surveyor based in East Yorkshire. I am monitored and regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) which ensures clients have the confidence and protection that all aspects of my work will be executed in a professional manner.
I offer a full range of traditional building surveying services on projects of all sizes. I undertake work across the north of England. I have a particular interest in historic building conservation, and ecological design. During the course of my career I have been lucky enough to work on a number of important buildings and sites which have included churches, abbeys, castles, stately homes and also several world heritage sites. I have been a fully paid up member of The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and The Building Limes Forum (BLF) for the last 14 years and regularly attend their events. I am also a member of the RICS Building Conservation Group. I am an approved inspecting surveyor for the Diocese of York. I have worked for English heritage both as a consultant and employee.
I have had an interest in old buildings over the last 15 years through working on them and by studying conservation issues and techniques. More recently ecological design has been at the forefront of the press due to concerns about global warming and is now an increasingly important factor whether designing a new building, or repairing or refurbishing an existing property.
Should you have a project in mind or require further information about a particular service then I should be pleased to discuss this further with you.
